Dr. Vino Vivekanandam
Dr. Vino is a Neurologist and Clinician Academic working at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, and Watford General Hospital. She has worked as a consultant since 2017 and has expertise in conditions affecting muscles and nerves. She also has extensive experience in general neurology.
Vino completed training in Neurology and Neurophysiology in Australia then moved to London to complete her PhD in skeletal muscle channelopathies. She successfully led, as Chief Investigator, a clinical trial comparing treatments in patients with myotonia congenita, a genetic muscle condition.
She leads Muscle Channelopathy research at the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology. She has a keen interest in clinical trials and is the Clinical trials lead at the Queen Square Clinical Trials Centre. Vino is a member of the British Muscle Society Council and Association of British Neurologists Research committee.
Vino has received several awards including MDUK Early career Researcher of the year 2022, Association of British Neurologists 2021 Top Platform Presentation Prize and Muscle Study Group Conference Shark Tank Winner 2020.
She has been invited or selected to speak at several international conferences including the World Muscle Society Conference 2024, The Neuromuscular Study Group Conference 2024, The Brain Conference 2021, The QS UCL Institute of Neurology annual symposium 2024 and the British Muscle Society Conference 2024.
